Executive Speaker Series #17: Clark Durant

YCP Detroit Executive Speaker Series is a free event every last Wednesday of the month in which executives share their professional and faith journeys with young professionals in their 20’s and 30’s, challenging them to ‘Work in Witness for Christ!’ Complimentary beer, wine, and appetizers are provided before and after the speaker.

Clark Durant has over 40 years experience in education, law, and politics. He was a Captain in the U.S. Army and, at the age of 23, appointed Vice President of Hillsdale College. Durant earned a law degree from Notre Dame Law School and taught literature at the undergraduate university.

Durant served as President of the State Board of Education and was nominated by President Reagan to serve on the Legal Services Corporation, where he served four years as Chairman. Durant co-founded Cornerstone Schools in 1991 and was CEO for 18 years. The Detroit News recognized Durant as "Michiganian of the Year" in 1995 for his work in education. Clark remains Chair of the Board at Cornerstone Education Group, which teaches 3,400 students at five Detroit schools.
