YCP Detroit Executive Speaker Series is a free event the last week of each month in which executives share their professional and faith journeys with young professionals in their 20’s and 30’s, challenging them to ‘Work in Witness for Christ!’ Complimentary beer, wine, and appetizers are provided before the keynote. This event is sponsored by Alliance Catholic Credit Union, Penske Automotive.

Dr. Antoine M. Garibaldi is the 25th and first lay president of University of Detroit Mercy, a Catholic, Master’s Comprehensive University founded in 1877 and sponsored by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) and the Religious Sisters of Mercy.
Since June 2011, Dr. Garibaldi has led Detroit Mercy in accomplishing multiple strategic goals in enrollment and retention, academics, fundraising and community engagement. Detroit Mercy enrolls more than 5,000 students in undergraduate, graduate and professional programs, including Architecture, Dentistry and Law, at its three campuses in Detroit. In 2020, U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Colleges” edition elevated Detroit Mercy in classification and ranked it among the top 200 national universities in the United States. In addition, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) 2020 Times Higher Education (THE) ranked Detroit Mercy among the top 20% of all U.S. institutions and the highest-ranking private university in Michigan. During his tenure, the endowment has nearly tripled and a $100 million comprehensive campaign goal was achieved a year ahead of schedule in December 2018. The campaign officially concluded on December 31, 2019 with more than $114 million raised.
A tenured professor and author of eleven books and more than 90 research articles and chapters, Dr. Garibaldi is a Fellow of both the American Educational Research Association and the American Psychological Association. Among the numerous local and national boards on which he serves are: Georgetown University; Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA); the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA); Brother Rice High School; Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau; the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) and its Executive Committee; Horizon League Athletic Conference; and the Michigan Independent Colleges & Universities (MICU) Executive Committee.
Dr. Garibaldi received his B.A. magna cum laude from Howard University and his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Minnesota.
